Colors

The palette of colors chosen by the Artist for his Painting will most certainly be decisive in your appreciation and therefore in your choice, without you necessarily being aware of it. Our eye is naturally attracted by color contrasts, by "colorful sensations". Intuitively, you will come to know whether the colors delight you, but you may find it difficult to project them into your interior. Here are some ideas to explore, whether you are used to color charts or not.

A Painting can recall the dominant color of an object or a wall, thus creating an overall harmony.

A Painting can bring the touch of color that is missing in your living space.

For a contrast effect, bright colors will be welcome, for a soothing effect in a bedroom, slightly softer colors are recommended. Warm colors like red or yellow can energize or illuminate certain spaces, while rather cold colors like blue or green can bring freshness and well-being.

It is no coincidence that colors are full of meaning, and you can play with that in choosing your Painting and the wall on which to hang it. Passion red, pure white, elegant black, natural green, soft pink. The symbolism of colors will vary from one individual to another, depending on their culture and history, but traveling to the land of colors is always an exciting adventure.

Lighting and exposure

Lighting is an important element in highlighting a Painting.

To enhance an Artwork, you can use directional lighting, called "accent lighting". Via wall lights or spotlights, you will be able to stage or highlight your Painting. However, pay attention to the roughness and imperfections of your wall. The more grazing the light is, the more these are visible.

Whether it is directional or more diffused, ceiling type lighting, the light temperature can impact the rendering of your Painting. A so-called warm light is around 2700-3000 kelvins and a cold light, more suitable for professional environment, is around 4000-5000 kelvins.

You can also work on the exposure, taking into account the different times of the day: the early morning rays, the light of the setting sun etc.

All Bodjaro Canvases have a layer of protective varnish. This satin or glossy layer gives shine to your Artwork by harmoniously reflecting light, while respecting the shapes and roughness of the drawing.

Size and height

The surface area of the room and the available distance are elements to be taken into consideration when choosing the format of a Painting.

We advise you to pay attention to the dimensions of the wall to be decorated. A small Painting on a very large wall may look "lost" and will not be highlighted. Conversely, a Canvas that is too large in relation to the room may appear imposing and boring. Bodjaro markets only two formats to adapt to the most classic configurations: medium 41x33 cm / 16x13 in' - (called "6F" in French Traditional Fine Art Classification) and large 73x60 cm / 29x24 in' ("20F"), in landscape (horizontal) or in portrait (vertical).

To fix spectator's gaze, you can decide to place the center of the Canvas at eye level. You can decide to raise or lower this height to adapt to an element that you want to highlight on the Artwork.

The important thing is not to respect conventions, but rather to know them so that you can then take pleasure in respecting them or questioning them.

Quantity and density

In most cases, a single Painting is suitable to sublimate a wall, a room and create a particular atmosphere.

You can seek to exhibit several Artworks from the same series, or which have common and complementary characteristics: a dominant color, a similar subject, artistic style, etc.

You are free to express yourself, to bring your own artistic touch through thoughtful and coherent compositions, or eccentric and crazy ones.

It is important to note, however, that the more you fill a wall or room, the more the spectator's attention will be entertained. You can look for a "museum" effect and create a "collection" impression. You can also decide to concentrate on a very single Artwork, a unique sensation.

You can also decide to take into account the intensity of a Painting. Some Artworks can be very intense and steal the spotlight and shadow other nearby Creations. Others are softer, more discreet. Up to you!

Room tone

When you choose a Painting to enhance your interior, you can choose to adapt the subjects and the scene represented to the room you want to decorate and the atmosphere you want to create.

Unsurprisingly, still lifes representing oranges or a carafe of water blend perfectly into a kitchen or living room.

Themes inspiring softness and calming can be used in a bedroom.

You can also decide to surprise, to challenge, to disorient by putting a little madness in your rooms, even the most intimate.

Do you have a well-defined decoration and are you afraid of making any a mistake? Listen to your desires and dare to create an atmosphere that suits you. A particularly colorful Painting can bring life to a minimalist interior, a landscape Painting can soften an industrial style decoration, an abstract Artwork can shake up your Scandinavian cocoon. Free yourself from constraints and rules, you are at home.

Reminders with objects

You have the option of choosing a subject or a scene that "recalls" or subtly evokes an object that is present in the room to be decorated.

These "mirror effects" are absolutely "delicious" to build and pleasant in everyday life because they generate a feeling of coherence and harmony.

An object can be preponderant like a grand piano, tiny and reserved for the initiates or keen observers like a small pipe, it can even be located outside the room like a view of a mountain, a forest, or a small fishing port.

Spectator's situation

When choosing a Canvas, it is wise to consider how the spectators will be able to observe it, particularly with regard to the location in the room to be decorated.

In a corridor or in a stairwell, you are on the move, your attention can be furtive and focused on the essential, such as a color contrast, or a sustained brushstroke. On the other hand, in a living room, you sit on a sofa or an armchair. You can study and take a closer look at the Artwork, its details and nuances.

You can also consider viewing angles. Some Paintings will only be visible from the front. For others, viewers will be led to observe the Artwork in profile. In the latter case, the finish will be of particular importance.

Framing

Bodjaro Canvases are all painted and varnished on the edges, most of the time in the main colors of the Artwork, depending on the artistic style and the desired effect. The Paintings are therefore ready to be hung on the wall as soon as you receive them at home.

You may wish to add a frame to your Painting. A frame makes it possible to create a separation between the universe of the Artwork and the wall, it is often said that it acts like a window, an opening indicating to the eye that there is something to observe "outside". Some Canvas look more authentic without any frame. For others, framing can provide aesthetic added value.
